The pousada (= bed and breakfast), is build on top of the rocks at the bay of Joanes so we can constantly enjoy the Atlantic breeze.

The village of Joanes

Joanes is a fishermenvillage with 900 inhabitants. The water buffalos keep the streets tidy, they graze "the pavement".
	There are ruins of a XVII-century Jesuitchurch, the oldest on the isle of Marajó.
Joanes has the most beautiful bay of the isle with an unspoiled beach, still.
	The isle of Marajó, which has the size of the Benelux, is known for its ceramics made by the Aruãindians until 1300 A.D.
And of course known for its water buffalos.
